Coach Frank Glover
Frank Glover, a seasoned baseball coach from Columbus, GA, is known for his straightforward approach and impressive track record. A former four-sport letterman at Spencer High School, Glover's talent shone brightest on the baseball diamond. He continued his success in college, posting a notable 12-3 pitching record at UT Martin and earning MVP honors in 1987 with a remarkable .96 ERA.
Glover's coaching philosophy centers on developing players' baseball IQ and mastering the fundamentals of the game. Relentless in his pursuit of excellence, he emphasizes the importance of understanding situational plays, defensive strategies, and the nuances of the game.
With a career spanning various coaching roles, Glover has honed his ability to impart essential skills and tactical knowledge. From guiding Glenwood School to a State Championship in 1990 to coaching stints at Franklin H.S., Ravenwood H.S., and Ensworth H.S., Glover has left an indelible mark on each program, instilling a culture of discipline, hard work, and strategic thinking. With over a decade of experience as a private instructor, Glover continues to impact the game, shaping the skills and mindset of aspiring athletes while fostering a love for the sport and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Steve Hughes
A lifelong baseball enthusiast, Steve Hughes has a solid background both as a player and a coach. His journey into the professional realm began with the Pittsburgh Pirates straight out of high school, where he spent nine years splitting time between the Pirates and Reds in the minor leagues. Steve also had the honor of playing for the original Nashville Sounds team.
Transitioning to coaching, Steve partnered with Frank Glover at Franklin High School for three impactful years. He coached players of all ages, from travel teams for 10 to 18-year-olds to providing valuable hitting and fielding lessons at Showtime Sports Academy.
Steve's true passion lies in teaching young players the game the "right way," instilling not just skills, but values of sportsmanship, dedication, and integrity. His commitment to shaping the next generation of athletes remains unwavering, making him a respected figure both on and off the field.
